Default No "Recording" tab in CD-R properties

If I look at the properties dialog(?) box for my CD recorder, I do not
see the Recording tab which some people on the Web refer to.

I am running XP Pro/SP2.
The CD recorder is a Lite-On from about 3 years ago.
I use Nero to do my burning.

Thank you.

Andy

PS: I want to find this tab to try a solution to a problem I am hitting
to do with being unable to see the CD's files:
"not accessible - Incorrect Function"

See if this article applies:
"CD-R drive or CD-RW drive is not recognized as a recordable device"

Start Run services.msc.
See if your " IMAPI CD-Burning Com Service" is started. If not Start it.

Nero may have taken over and disabled the IMAPI service.

Most likely what has happened. Nero is very picky about what drivers
are running on a system once you install Nero. It doesn't want any
other drivers other than its running. As far as I am concerned that
is extremely poor programming on Nero's part.

I found the answer. Go to Help and Support at support.microsoft.com
then it is under
_CD-R_drive_or_CD-RW_drive_is_not_recognized_as_a_recordable_device_ . I
had to edit the registry but first it tells you to back it up. and
explains how. It's done by change the volume from a 3 to a 2 or 1
depending on CDR or CDRW. I'm thrilled!!! Ask me more details if you
can't find it.
