Default Fax Configuration Problem

Here's an interesting one!
I am running XP Home SP3 and I recently have encountered a problem with the
Fax Console.
What happens is this:
Each time I boot up, the *enable receive* and *manual* check boxes are
unticked, and I have to recheck them.
I know what is causing the problem. It is something in the Tripp-Lite UPS
software I installed.
(I renamed their executable and the problem went away)
Tripp-Lite is not exactly forthcoming in providing support for this issue,
so I was wondering if there is anything I can do from my end. (e.g. making
some file(s) read only, or a registry fix of some sort.)
Any ideas?
Thanks
