AutoPlay
Freeman,
How to stop it ? The below seems to work for me. It disables *all* autorun, including from CD/DVD - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\policies\Explorer] "NoDriveTypeAutoRun"=dword:000000FF - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Either open regedit, follow the path and alter/create the NoDriveTypeAutoRun data, or cut-and-paste into a textfile with the extension ".reg" and double-click it. in microsoft.public.windowsxp.general the following: XP Pro all updates. Plugged in USB pen (flash) drive. Selected Drive Properties / AutoPlay. Selected mixed content selected Action TO Perform clicked Take no action clicked Apply then OK. unplugged drive. plugged it back in and it still does the autoplya scan. How else will it know what to do? How to stop it ? Don't plug it back in? What does it do when it is done with scanning the device? Ask you for further input, or just close the window? -- pyotr filipivich Next month's Panel: Graft - Boon or blessing? |
