Default HELP! Print spooler service is not running

-----Original Message-----
Hi, everyone,

I tried adding a Canon Multipass L6000 printer (also
functions as a fax and copier) to my new Compaq Evo
N1015v laptop that runs Windows XP Professional.

Ever since I installed the driver, the print spooler
service has been messed up. Not only has the Multiplass
not been able to print from the laptop, but every time I
try to view any printing properties (i.e. Server
Properties under the File menu in "Printers and Faxes")
or try to delete the printer, I receive an error message
that says "The print spooler service is not running." So
I can't even view any of the settings let alone change
them.

Additionally, every time I start Windows I get repeated
messages about a problem with the printer subspooler
system (or something, sorry, I don't quite remember) and
it keeps popping up dialog boxes about sending the error
report to Microsoft. You can imagine that this is more
than a little annoying.

I tried starting in Safe Mode and viewing the settings
from there, but I still received the same types of error
messages.

Could somebody please please help me or at least point

me
in a helpful direction? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.
Jennifer
.
