i have a router set to assign ip addresses through dhcp when i set my laptop to assign ip address auto and dns auto it assigns an automatic private address of ip 169.254.198.38 and a subnet of 255.255.0.0 i cannot get it to use the dhcp of the router in order to pull files off of the laptop i have set the ip, dns, and subnet that the router has but i am not able to navigate the ineternet any suggestions thanks Is this a wired or wireless router connection? Do you know that the laptop is successfully connecting to the router? What model router? What model nic in the laptop? Cheers, Chuck Paranoia comes from experience - and is not necessarily a bad thing. |
