Have you tried running your Windows 7 programs on Windows 10? What programs, if any, don't work? I've got about 100 programs written over the years, first in QB45, then Visual Basic 3, then finaly about 7 in Visual Basic 6. Only the VB6 stuff will even run in Windows 7 (which is the OS I use). Don't, Don't, DON'T !
On 04/27/16 17:22, Dave Doe so wittily quipped:
I'd concede that the borders on some programs; MS's Edge browser, Office 2016 programs; take a little getting used to. I certainly don't find it ugly or nauseating. Clean, is the word that springs to my mind. Each to their own I guess. ugly, distracting, makes me unable to get things done. "Bad Feng Shui" the whole 2D look bugs me. I couldn't use "Ape" because of it, not even with 'Classic Shell' installed. It just *bugged* me seeing it. It's like having a BAD PAINT COLOR on the walls in your office. "How come you can't work in there?" Well, should be *OBVIOUS*. And MS is doing what they can to REMOVE OUR CHOICE about these kinds of things. And GWX continues to try and SHOVE Win-10-nic up our asses whether we want it or not. Thinking of GWX... http://www.theregister.co.uk/2016/04...ws_10_live_tv/ |

Yes, so far, you can easily keep ahead of them, if you're a little computer savy, and keep your eyes open. Anyone who upgrades beyond 7, is just plain nuts. But what about others ? ... |

C# has taken over from VB and people are using C# for almost everything including writing Web Applications. Microsoft has made C# Open source just like ASP.Net has become Open Source. Plans are afoot to make SQL server available on nix systems. Personally, I don't like this to be on Nix but hey, it is Microsoft who rules the world. It looks like Microsoft products are becoming almost free but their Azure services is very expensive. I just looked up the price for hosting a commercial web APP on Azure and it costs some thing like $7500 pre-paid or they charge you by the minute. -- /*This post contains rich text (HTML). if you don't like it then you can kill-filter the poster without crying about it like a small baby so that you don't see this poster's posts ever again.*/ /*This message is best read in Mozilla Thunderbird as it uses 21st century technology.*/ |
