Default Microphone

I have a new Dell and the sound works great but even after the test, which says everything is fine, I have no voice. It says my microphone is fine but it doens't work with messenger,the only thing I would use it for, and I don't know how to fix the problem
. Can someone please tell me how I can activate or enable the voice on my system? I have gone through all the test and done exactly what it says to do but no luck and this was not cheap DEll!!!!!!!!! Help!!

You need to tell us about the microphone and where it is connected. Dell
does not automatically supply a mic nowdays with the computer. Also, we
need to determine if you have it plugged into the sound card. Do you know
how to insure that? Also, if it does not work after running the Wizard and
making sure that the SOUND CARD IS selected as the source for sound.
