Slow network, high cpu, Windows XP SP2, BroadCom NetXtreme 57xx
Something is really wierd here. I get about 10 Mbit/s throughput and the cpu is jumping up to 90% (all kernel!) on the following system: P4@3GHz Intel 925X mobo 1GB 533 DDR2 mem SATA disks Onboard Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller, v7.86 driver The CPU, memory and disks get great benchmarks. The firewall is turned of. When I run linux on the same machine I get normal figures, about 300Mbit/s and max 5% CPU. The transfer throttle is in this case the disks on the server I'm transferring to. Any ideas? |

I might add that I've tried with an old 3C905 card (100mbit/s) too and got the same problem...bad throughput and unreasonable high cpu. Tried to disable hyperthreading in bios too, same thing... |

Unfortunately I forgot to benchmark one of the three drives and this drive did OF COURSE not get DMA transfer mode on my brand new rigg. Case closed, sorry to bother. |
