XPSP2 shared printer not accesable on 98SE
At a customer we have a local network with one Windows 98 SE computer
and a Windows 2000 computer. The printers all are directly connected at the 2k machine, the 98 machine is printing on the shared printers without any problem. On the 2000 computer we now have installed Windows XP SP2 additionally, on an extra partition. The usernames and passwords on all 3 machines are identical. The computername of the XP machine is the same that was used on 2k. The Folders and Printers on the XP machine are shared as it was on the 2k. (same rights, etc, ...) Drivers of the printers have been installed on 98 98 still can connect to any folder on the xp and 2k machine, but printing is only working on 2k. afaik everything, except the os is identical (Drivers of course are also different, one for xp and one |

If it is, Windows 98 won't be able to see it. If that doesn't solve the problem, please reply to this message in the news group (not by E-mail) with more information to help other people understand the problem. Can Windows 98 see the XP printer? If so, what exactly happens when you try to print to it? If there's an error message, what is the complete text? -- Best Wishes, Steve Winograd, MS-MVP (Windows Networking) Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group for everyone to see.
