Another MS Outlook question
I have my MS Outlook 2013 going very well, again but I still haven't
figured out how to get it to automatically place my outgoing e-mail messages in the folder that I've assigned for that person who is to receive the message. I have the incoming messages going to the assigned folder and this works okay but when I send a response the sent message is always in the Sent Items folder. How can I set things up such that these outgoing messages will be placed in the appropriate folder without having to do this manually every time? Gordon |

Gordon I haven't tried this myself, but you could try enabling one or both of these features: Check this one: "When replying to a message that is not in the Inbox, save the reply in the same folder." Uncheck this one: "Save copies of messages in the Sent Items folder." These features are in Options, Mail, and then in the Save Messages section. |

I did these two things and will wait and see if it works the way I've been trying to get it to work. Gordon |

Gordon You'll need to use a rule to move the messages from the Sent folder to another folder. (Fyi...the Sent folder is capable of having subfolders) Your rule would take the form Sent from you and sent to 'your recipient' then move to 'folder of your choice' and stop processing more rules. It might be wise when moving something after a send/receive to set the rule as the last rule in the entire list of rules (i.e. performs last). -- ...winston msft mvp consumer apps |

I think I have this cluster of problems resolved. I had to delete all the old Manage Rules & Alerts settings then start over from scratch, setting up new Message Rules. These seem to be doing what I was hoping for. Gordon |
