Adding a Hewlett Packard Scanner
Recently upgraded from Win98 2nd Edition to Window XP
Professional. Also installed new HP Scanjet 3670. Computer indicates everything installed correctly. When trying to scan from desktop or scanner buttons to scan pictures or text, I get and error code that states: " This program cannot read to or write to the file system. Click OK to close the program, then try one of the following: -Delete unused files to free up disk space. -Reinstall the HP Photo & Imaging Software. -Scan your hard disk for problems." __________________________________________________ __ All of this has been accomplished and the error code still comes up when attempting to scan pictures or text. I have completely unistalled the scanner and loaded the scanner before loading the software and that did not help either. Any assistance will be appreciated By the way, I have plenty of memory and hard drive space. |

The usual practice to ensure a correct USB driver install is to install the driver and software *before* connecting the device the first time, barring *specific* vendor instructions to do otherwise. To correct a failed scanner installation, connect the scanner then from scanners and cameras remove the scanner if it appears there, then from add/remove programs remove the software and the TWAIN applications. Shut down and disconnect the scanner. After disconnecting the scanner, reboot,do not connect the scanner, and install the software and and driver. If the installation completed successfully, connect the scanner for the first time. It should be detected and installed. Q |
