Default Error Code 0x000000F4 and RAM?

Ok so.. my computer has been gradually collapsing over the last few
weeks. It was shutting off without any form of warning during anything
"intense" like burning a dvd... as if I had a faulty power supply,
something wasn't connected properly, or it was overheating. I checked
everything, and all the temps etc. were fine. Everything was mounted
properly and it wasn't over heating. I checked my RAM using Memcheck. I
ended up running it for 5 minutes and getting close to 400 errors. I
read the site which said anything over 20 was bad, so I assumed it was
my ram. I went out and purchased two compatible 1GB sticks of PNY
Brand PC3200 ram. I came home and installed it. My problems got worse.
I scanned them getting 0 errors. I switched back to my old RAM, and I'm
actually able to use my computer. With the "New" ram, I am hardly able
to even get Windows running, but I get the error:

0x000000F4 (0x00000003, 0x8A56ABE0, 0x8A56AD54,0x80604418)
PERFORMING PHYSICAL MEMORY DUMP

I'm still having problems, and I don't know what the hell to do. It's
very frustrating, and I would appreciate even the most insignificant of
help. Thanks.

Default Error Code 0x000000F4 and RAM?

Does the problem occur if you boot in Safe Mode?

Have you made any software and / or hardware changes immediately prior
to the problem starting? Have you disturbed the cabling etc to your hard
drive(s)?

Are you able to access Event Viewer before your system shuts down?

Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

Part of the Description of the error will include a link, which you
should double click for further information. You can copy using copy
and paste. Often the link will, however, say there is no further
information.
http://go.microsoft.com/fw.link/events.asp
(Please note the hyperlink above is for illustration purposes only)

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

What is your Windows XP CD as it is described on the face of the CD?

What is your computer make and model?

Hope this helps.

PNY ram is very testy memory, its big flaw is most are either 1 or 2 sided
memory installed on the card.Make sure you run 1 or 2,but not both together,
my advice would be to return it and purchase better memory. Also,PNY service
for warranty is the worst. If youre really stuck with it,clear the CMOS,try
again.

First of all, the Owner has changed. It hasn't been reformatted or
anything, and it says PUTUBNTAP when originally it said Jake or
something. I just know it wasn't that. I run Ad-Aware, CleanUp,
SpeedUpMyPC 3, PerfectDisk, and Registry Mechanic. I would also like to
point out that I used to use DVD Decrypter, and DVD Shrink, and that's
where all my problems began. They weren't the cause because I used them
for around 6 months with no trouble at all. Then one day it shut off
midway through the actual "burning" of the DVD. I also can't play DVD's
through my DVD-R/RW drive because it lags insanely running directly from
it.

I have removed the Harddrive because it said that it didn't recognize
it etc, which made me thing she was a goner. I plugged it back in and
restarted, and it saw it again. It occasionally will power down, come
back on, and say, "Please insert boot device". I restart, and it works
again.

No major software changes either, other than my suite of maintenance
software, which is only recently. I have been having problems for a
month or two.. They have just been worsening until now when it's so
ridiculous that the only thing I can actually use is firefox.

Microsoft CD - Includes Service Pack 2

Computer is custom built over year ago, with a recently replaced
motherboard/case. P4P800 SE is the motherboard, which is what I used to
do compatibility checks for the RAM. Intel Pentium 4, 3.00 GHZ
Right now I'm using the "error filled" Kingston 512mb ram instead of
the 2GB of PNY trash.

Navigate to C:\windows\minidump
Zip some of the recent minidumps and upload them to any free web hosting and
give us the link

Bad sectors can be repaired but it would your hard drive problems may go
beyond that.

Try running HD Tune(freeware).

Download and run it and see what it turns up.
http://www.hdtune.com/

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on the drive under Drive
letter and then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard )
and copy into a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy
to Clipboard ) and copy into a further message. Also do a full surface
scan with HD Tune.

Ok.. This doesn't make since. My computer has been showing the signs of
a failing harddrive..(Disappearing files, Crashing during high data
transfer, etc.)

Anyway, one other question... My Windows CD is scratched up beyond
proper use. My first reaction to such a major problem was to reformat,
but it failed. Anyway, I have a windows CD Key, but no working CD. Is
there any way I can reformat without having to purchase another copy?
Any free way?

Default Error Code 0x000000F4 and RAM?

You may have other problems but what is immediately obvious is that you
have totally inadequate free disk space. You can run on 15% free space
but really you need around 25%. Your problem is a little surprising
given the size of volume C. Do you have any other drives or partitions?

I have some suggestions for creating more space, which should help.

Go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, View, Advanced Settings and
verify that the box before "Show hidden files and folders" is checked
and "Hide protected operating system files " is unchecked. You may need
to scroll down to see the second item. You should also make certain that
the box before "Hide extensions for known file types" is not checked.
Next in Windows Explorer make sure View, Details is selected and then
select View, Choose Details and check before Name, Type, Total Size, and
Free Space.

It is likely that an allocation of 12% has been made to System Restore
on your C partition which is over generous. I would reduce it to 700 mb.
Right click your My Computer icon on the Desktop and select System
Restore. Place the cursor on your C drive select Settings but this time
find the slider and drag it to the left until it reads 700 mb and exit.
When you get to the Settings screen click on Apply and OK and exit.

The default allocation for the Windows Recycle Bin is 10 % of drive. 5%
should be sufficient. In Windows Explorer place the cursor on your
Recycle Bin, right click and select Properties, Global and move the
slider from 10% to 5%. However, try to avoid letting it get too full as
if it is full and you delete a file by mistake it will bypass the
Recycle Bin and be gone for ever.

Another default setting on a large drive which could be wasteful is
that for temporary internet files especially if you do not store
offline copies on disk. The default allocation is 3% of drive.
Depending on your attitude to offline copies you could reduce this to
1% or 2%. In Internet Explorer select Tools, Internet Options,
General, Temporary Internet Files, Settings to make the change. At the
same time look at the number of days history is held.

In the Windows Directory of your C partition you will have some
Uninstall folders in your Windows folder typically:
$NtServicePackUninstall$ and $NtUninstallKB282010$ etc. These files may
be compressed or not compressed. If compressed the text of the folder
name appears in blue characters. If not compressed you can compress
them. Right click on each folder and select Properties, General,
Advanced and check the box before Compress contents to save Disk Space.
On the General Tab you can see the amount gained by deducting the size
on disk from the size. Folder compression is only an option on a NTFS
formatted drive / partition.

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Also
select Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp,
More Options, System Restore and remove all but the latest System
Restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

Now let us see what affect that has had on fragmentation of files. It
should look a lot better. Open Disk Defragmenter and click on Analyse.
Select View Report and click on Save As and Save. Now find VolumeC.txt
in your My Documents Folder and post a copy.

Hope this helps.

but it failed. Anyway, I have a windows CD Key, but no working CD. Is
there any way I can reformat without having to purchase another copy?
Any free way?

Ok.. Well I tried to reduce the amount of space I'm using, but to no
avail. It crashed when I was setting the system restore. It's running
ridiculously slow now. Almost unbearable for even typing. I'm not
really sure what else can try..?

Try this and then look at the other suggestions again

Select Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. Also
select Start, All Programs, accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp,
More Options, System Restore and remove all but the latest System
Restore point. Run Disk Defragmenter.

You need to be patient .

Hope this helps.

How many original memory sticks are installed? If more than one remove
one and see what happens when you boot the computer. If you get a
problem swap the one you removed for the one you left in the computer.

Ok... my computer will no longer come on. 1 original 512 mb memory
stick. I tried putting in each stick individually, and the computer ran
with the same problems, no matter which one. Anyway, now it wont even
boot windows. Nothing changed.. nothing new happened that I know of,
but now when I turn it on, it gets to the windows loading logo and
restarts. It never boots all the way up. It restarts every time. It
wont boot into safemode, it wont revert, and I still cant get it to
boot of the CD. My CD is apparently just fine though because I used it
to install XP on this old crappy computer(I needed for my WiFi)

Try to remove and replug your IDE cable. For me my DVD drive cable
caused problems like this. Try to use the secondary connector on IDE
cable, if you are using primary now, and viceversa.

i had this problem too.. but i solved this 0x000000f4 error problem by using (PC Health Advisor) its brings together high quality tools in one comprehensive program. This advanced software makes it easy to fix, clean and optimize your computer. PC Health Advisor gets things running right again by ejecting active malware, updating drivers, cleaning your Windows registry, defragmenting the disk, helping you update drivers, finding programs to open file extensions and getting rid of cached information that slows down your PC.
