Default Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error

I got that blue screen when computer shuts down unexpectly, on top it says
Kernel_data_inpage_error, STOP: 0x0000007A (0xE15812F0, 0xC000000E,
0xBF8ACC23, 0x06505860) near bottom it says something about win32K.sys,
Beginning dump of physical memory. I've tried rebooting in safe mode and
last good configuration and still no luck. Also I've tried rebooting with
Emergency Windows XP Boot Disk and Windows XP Home Edition Recovery Console.
What gives? Can you please explain? How do I get my computer up and running
again?

Default Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error

Hi,

Could you please state how long this has been going on, when it started, and
what events preceeded it? Also, some basic information on your system
configuration may help.

See MVP Jim Eshelman's web page for STOP errors at
http://www.aumha.org/win5/kbestop.htm and click on the "7A: Kernel
Data Inpage" link in the left side column.

Good luck

Default Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error

Thank you for reponding.

My systems consists of:
Dell Dimension 4400
1.8GHz Pentium
20GB Hard Drive
256MB SDRAM
64MB NVIDIA GeForce TV-Out and DVI
CD-ROM Drive
Windows XP Home Edition
17" Monitor

This problem occurred when entering a website and it's been happening for
about 4 days now. Yesterday I was able to boot up my computer through safe
mode but I didn't know what to do after that. My system started crashing and
popped up an error message that stated System Error - Hard disk error. But
NO blue screen with Kernel_data_inpage_error message. After crashing, the
screen just showed a still www.dell.com picture. That's it. Is this a virus
or hardware problem? How do I fix this?

Hi,

Sounds like your hard drive died, probably had nothing to do with a virus,
just a hardware failure. Dell's diagnostics should confirm this:

Default Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error

You're right. Replaced hard drive and now I'm up and running. I bought
this computer about two years ago and I didn't think the hard drive would be
the problem. FYI, my old hard drive is a Western Digital WD400BB. How do I
update my bios? Where can I get the bios update? I have a BIOS A03 version.
Once I get the new update, what are some hints and tips to look out for?
Thanks for all your help.
