Default OEM Versions

I have not yet had the problem but still have to update
my fathers HP to SP2. I have read where people cannot
reboot and what needs to be done to reboot it is by
inserting the XP CD and go into recovery console. With an
OEM version, how would I do this. In HP anyway, there is
a place you can create a recovery disk, mine was 6 CD's,
but am not sure if this would work for getting into
recovery console. Hope this makes some kind of sense. If
this does not work, how would I be able to get the
computer to boot up so I can fix the troubles?
Thanks alot.
Allan
