Wireless access to internet
I'm running Winxp home edition on my desktop, I'm trying
to access internet through wireless USB adapter, but I cannot log on to internet. I could see the connection signal strength is excellent (connected to my ESSID). My setting at my TCP/IP is all set at automatic detect, but when viewing my connection TCP/IP, the address type is alway Automatic Private Address with IP address 169.254.xxx.xxx. Kindly advise what other setting should i change in-order to be able to log on to internet. Thanks in advance |

Wireless access to internet
You would need to put into the router your user name and password given you
by your isp, the router is doing the connecting not your computer. Also make sure the router is set to be the gateway. Using dynamic ip's is fine but not vary secure, some one setting on the street with a wireless laptop can be on you system without you knowing. "Raymond" wrote in message ... Wireless access to internet
Thanks, i'll try to see whether it solve the problem.
I had set 64 bits WEP and MAC access on my wireless network, shouldn't these help to secure my system? -----Original Message----- You would need to put into the router your user name and password given you by your isp, the router is doing the connecting not your computer.
