Default Netgear MA101 - Cannot obtain IP address

Xref: kermit microsoft.public.windowsxp.network_web:193702

I'm trying to get my Netgear MA101 wireless network
adaptor to work with Windows XP. It is supposed to work
with the Netgear ME102 access point downstairs providing
me with internet access. However, when I set the software
and everything up as instructed, the IP address is being
assigned by the computer (i.e. 169.254.12.231), and
therefore I cannot connect to the internet.

Is this a known problem, and if so how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance,
Chris.

Does the MA101 status show that it has successfully associated with
the access point? If not, check these settings. They have to be the
same on the access point and on the MA101:

SSID (case sensitive)
Encryption Type
Encryption Key

Is MAC address filtering enabled on the access point? If so, add the
MA101 to the allowed list.
