Default .606 files

I have two unknown files in my Windows folder on an XP SP2 machine:
LPT$VPN.606 and VPNTFILE.606 (14MB each). Spyware/Adware/Virus scans find
nothing, but they seem suspicious to me (unknown file type). Can anyone tell
me what these files are?

just a shot in the dark do you or one of your family use a VPN connection to
contact the office from home as they seem to be some kind of VPN control
files(by the file names anyway)

I might have had Check Point SecuRemote VPN on this machine at one time. If
that's what these files are, shouldn't they have been removed upon
un-install? (Again, they're in the C:\WINDOWS folder)

many programs are known for leaving bits of themselves laying around after
uninstall.
