Windows XP Reverted iself to Original Install
My windows XP reverted itself to the original settings when I booted a few
days ago. I had to reset everything, including Outlook Express address book, favorites, start menu items. Thank goodness for backups. It even had reverted the wallpaper to the big green hill screen. When I started the computer it asked me if I wanted the Tour of XP. Running Windows XP Pro which was installed about 5 years ago. Anyone have any clue why this would happen? After I reinstalled the missing items everything seems to be working OK. Art |

Art The original user account was probably damaged, so Windows generated a new one. Run an error check on the hard drive; open My Computer, right-click the C: drive, click Properties, click the Tools tab, click "Check now...". Do a Google search on "lost user account xp" and you'll find articles on "How to Copy User Data to a New User Profile", etc. http://forums.techarena.in/windows-x...ort/897626.htm -- Joe =o) |
