Windows Installer Cleanup Utility
I have a previous question on the Windows Installer not working right. The
ultimate conclusion of this issue was that I had to reinstall Win XP. I have been holding off doing this so I would not loose any software on my machine. I have continued to search for solutions to this problem and stumbled upon this Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. REf Article # 290301. I was wondering if anyone else has used it and what results they had. I have down loaded it and tried to run it but got an error message " THE WINDOWS INSTALLER SERVICE COULD NOT BE ACCESSED. THIS CAN OCCUR.....". |

"Windows Installer Service could not be accessed" error message when installing application http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319624/ If that does not fix your issue(s) - I suggest a repair installation. Repair installations should leave everything intact but fix the system itself. My suggestion is to create an integrated SP3 CD for the repair installation (Google for how).
