Hi

Sorry but I posted a similar message not long ago an got no answers that
worked.

When I explore My Computer, right click on any file and select "Sharing &
Security", My Computer hangs and I have to End task (Ctrl Alt Del). Can

Thanks,

J.

Run an Antitrojan-Antispyware application... your local security may be
compromised.

If the scan turns out clean, you may need to use the "Secedit" command to
restore your local security settings to default values.

Thanks Ronaldo,

I have Norton Internet security installed since I got the laptop, so that is
probably taken care of.

Secondly, I had a look at the suggested "Helpdeskgeek" website. However that
suggestion seemed to be for people whose computer was previously used in an
unknown other environment (like if they purchased the machine secondhand) and
it was perhaps used previously in a corporate network with restricted
security enabled. I have always been the only user of this machine and nobody
else makes or made any changes to security settings. So I'm reluctant to
alter local security.

Thanks for your input, though.

Jay.
