Default Upgrade to WinXP Pro from Home

Will an upgrade perform a 'clean' install i.e. delete all files/applications
on my PC leaving just the upgrade?

Thanks
Jackie

If you choose the upgrade option, no, it will leave your files and settings
intact. If you're asking if you can do a clean install with the Upgrade CD,
the answer is yes. You'll just have to provide your previous version for
verification.

The XP Upgrade CD is capable of performing an "upgrade install" or a
"clean install." If you opt to perform a clean install, the XP setup
program will ask to see "proof" that you qualify for the price of the
less expensive upgrade CD. Insert the CD for your previous operating
system when prompted. After the check, remove it. Replace the XP CD in
the CDRom drive and setup will continue.

PS: The directions for doing both types of installs are in the XP manual
that comes in the box with the CD.
