Importing mail to XP
My sister had a Win98SE sytem that died. She bought one that has
WinXP on it. I can't import the OE 5.0 mail folders into WinXP with OE 6.0. Is there another way to access these e-mail messages. Some were from a good friend that has died of cancer. Any help appreciated Dennis Q. |

Importing mail to XP
I can't back up the OE 5.0 because it is on a drive with a messed
up boot sector. I have copied all the *.dbx files in to a folder on the new C: drive by setting the old drive as a slave. When I try to import them to the Outlook Express 6.0 in Windows XP, I get this message: "No messages can be found in this folder or another application is running that has the required files open. Please select another folder or try closing applications that may have files open." The old pc was Win98SE on fat 32 and the new one is WinXP on NFTS. Is this a problem? Or, can it be as simple as changing the file from read only as in: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=252603 This pc is about 25 miles from me and I don't want to drive back and forth trying different things... I hope I've made this problem more clear... Ricky wrote: See if this link helps.. http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/backup/ "Dennis" wrote in message ... My sister had a Win98SE sytem that died. From what I've read you copy the dbx files to a folder on your hard drive.
You have to get the folders .dbx file too. Then remove the read only attribute and import into the new computer. "Dennis" wrote in message ...
