Deleting Printer
I have 2 copies of the same network printer in my "Printers and faxes"
window. Neither works. I have tried to delete them but they both now have a status of "deleting". I have tried stopping and restarting the print spooler. I have tried deleting the drivers - which won't delete. There are no print jobs for this printer in the queue however when i open the print queue window it opens for a second then closes again. How can i delete these printers? Thanks in advance Dan |

Deleting Printer
Hi Dan,
for local printers, delete the corresponding key with regedit at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Print\Printers then restart the spooler or reboot. For connection to network printers take a look at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\Connections Dieter i have tried this as well. printers are not available in safe mode. d Chuck wrote: Try from "safe mode" wrote in message oups.com... Deleting Printer
If there's anything left in the queue, you won't be able to delete them. If
this is the case and you can't clear the queue, try the following. Go to START RUN Type in the following command in the RUN box WITHOUT quotes: "NET STOP SPOOLER" Then get back into RUN and copy/paste the following command: "%systemroot%\system32\spool\PRINTERS" If you find anything in there, delete it! This is where the print jobs "spool up" or get stored 'til they are sent down the printer cable. Go to START RUN Type in the following command in the RUN box WITHOUT quotes: "NET START SPOOLER" This should have cleared the spooler and should enable you to delete those printers. 1-22-07 1356 EST " wrote: I have 2 copies of the same network printer in my "Printers and faxes" window.
