No DHCP or Ping after XP SP2 install
After I installed XP Service pack 2 I can not get a DHCP
address from my Linksys router. If I put in a local 192.168.100.x address the link comes up but I still can't ping the router at 192.168.100.1 or access the internet. I even disabled the XP firewall. Any ideas? |

No DHCP or Ping after XP SP2 install
I thought Linksys defaults to a 192.168.1.x subnet with a router address
of 192.168.1.1. DHCP addresses normally start at 192.168.1.100 and go up. When the XP firewall is disabled and it does not automatically recognize a third-party firewall, it enables TCP/IP filtering and locks down all ports and protocols (at least this is my view). Open TCP/IP properties of the connection, General tab, Advanced properties, Options tab, TCP/IP filtering properties, check Enable, and change Permit None to Permit All. Q . |
