Default sending a fax with windows xp on cable

What are my options, without a fax or microsoft fax software
installed, I don't have the windows xp cd with me, and I have had way
too many problems with the cd to want to put it back to obtain the
winxp fax drivers can they not be obtained on the net?

what are my options?
thanks

They'd be useless to you anyway. You cannot fax on cable (or DSL for that
matter). An analogue modem is required. A cable 'modem' is /NOT/ a modem -
merely a Network Interface Connector to a vast Wide Area Network.

Your only option to 'fax' with cable is to hire an online service such as
eFax. If you do not wish to do either, then you'll have to live without
faxing.

You could borrow someone Windows XP Cd to install the fax software.
Usually OEM manufacturers have a subdirectory on your hard drive
with the Windows files in case you want to add a component. The
subdirectory might be hidden. Unhide all files and do a search for
"i386" and point your installation toward each of those
subdirectories until one works or they all fail.

I hope that you are not asking whether you can send faxes via cable.
If that is your intent, then do not waste your time trying to
install the fax software. It only works with an analog modem
connected to a regular dialup telephone line.
