Epson Stylus C80 problem
I have tried your suggestions, but the XP plug'n'play jumps up with "found
new hardware" and the Epson printer driver install can't find the printer. It's on USB port if that matters. If I then install the monitor software, it errors with a communications error. Any suggestions? Jim /* "Cari (MS-MVP)" wrote in message ... I'm not sure why he should be looking for an HP printer driver when the subject line clearly states he uses an Epson Stylus C80 printer! However there are updated drivers at the Epson site. The printer should be correctly uninstalled and then reinstalled: There are three separate steps and all three must be complete for XP to 'see' the new drivers. Disconnect the printer. Go into the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and uninstall any printer software. Then go to Printers & Faxes and right click and delete your printer. Reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer. Go back to Printers & Faxes in the Control Panel and from the toolbar, select File, Server Properties. In the drivers tab, delete all the entries for the printer. Reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer. Download a new set of drivers from the printer manufacturer's website at http://tinyurl.com/7jey Follow the instructions at the printer manufacturer's website and only connect the printer when the software tells you to do so. After the installation is complete, download and install the Status Monitor driver from: http://tinyurl.com/7jez so that you can keep an eye on it. Just a guess: get the latest XP driver from HP and install it as a replacement for the standard XP driver. I've read many articles that say OEM drivers are always better than the ones shipped with XP. -------------- Birk Binnard Peninsula Software http://www.birkbinnard.com |
