HP printer problem after windows upgrade
Hang on guys, there might be a different issue here. I have just
upgraded from XP Home to XP Pro and this has caused my WinTV USB device to be recognised as new hardware. When I try to install the lastest driver for Windows XP, I get the message telling me that Access is Denied and that I need to log in as Administrator or use an account with Admin rights. My user does have Admin rights and I have tried logging in as Admin. No change. Anybody got any ideas? I've played around with all the obvious things already. If it's something silly, that I've missed, I apologise!! Regards Mark. ===== "FredP" wrote in message news:SGOia.311055$3D1.171800@sccrnsc01... Steve ... Amethyst is right, it won't work with what you have. Here's the HP site for the WinXP drivers/software along with full instructions. http://tinyurl.com/8pv2 Good luck ... I have HP 1215 photosmart Printer. after the upgrade down load, the PC refuses to recognize my printer. It also will not accept my CD that came with my printer to reload the drivers. It keeps saying "access denied" when I try to reload the driver disc. The instl wizard always "finds" the new hard ware when i start the PC up but will not let me follow thru and install the printer. It seems now like evey thime the PC is restarted it loses the printer info and refuses to maintain it. I thought this was an upgrade!!! Now I can't get my computer to reconnect with the printer and then permanenetly retain the setting. Any possible solutions???? I am using a USB connection to the printer. Would connecting the printer to a regular printer port help? Thank you,Steve And have we visited HP's site and downloaded an XP-compatible driver - if one exists? No we have not. Of course it won't recognise the disc - the printer was manufactured before XP was heard of - it probably only contains 9x/NT drivers. |

HP printer problem after windows upgrade
Start with this.
Go into the Control Panel and uninstall any references to both the Printer and the WinTV software. Turn off PC and disconnect printer and remove WinTV USB unit. Reboot PC and go into the Device Manager (right click on My Computer, select Properties, look in the Hardware tab and you'll find Device Manager). Find the Universal Serial Bus Controllers entry, click on the + sign to expand the tree and right click and select Uninstall for ALL the USB Controllers (right click and you'll find uninstall). Reboot the PC. XP should now find and reinstall the USB Controllers software. Now add the printer (software first then connect it when it tells you to do so).... now turn off the PC again and reinstall the WinTV USB unit. Any joy?
