Canon Multipass F60 - MPservice
Hello,
PC - AMD 2200+ 512MB DDR Ram Win. XP Pro. SP1 + all Updates I have a Canon Multipass F60 w/ the newest Software drivers i can find (V.4.20a on CD) I have installed the drivers and the printer worked for about 2 weeks, Then I installed Nortin AV /03. Now when i try to print i receive a message to start the MP service from the start menu, Unable to communicate w/ device. After i try to do this i get an unable to communicate w/ device error mesage, and so on in a vicious loop. I've talked to Canon - they advised to repair the install of the Printer software form add/remove prog.'s. I've done that and still no go. I've uninstalled both Nortin AV + Printer software, then just reinstalled the Printer software solo - Same error message. The only other help Canon was able to give me was to try and call MS Technical support for help - They say it's a conflict w/ Win. XP Pro. I was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me out before i use one of my incidents or pay $35 for this trivial issue. Thank You ! Shoddy :-D |

Canon Multipass F60 - MPservice
Let's do a complete uninstall and reinstall once mo
There are three separate steps and all three must be complete for XP to 'see' the new drivers. Disconnect the printer. Go into the Control Panel, Add/Remove programs and uninstall any printer software. Then go to Printers & Faxes and right click and delete your printer. Reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer. Go back to Printers & Faxes in the Control Panel and from the toolbar, select File, Server Properties. In the drivers tab, delete all the entries for the printer. Reboot the PC. Do NOT reconnect the printer. Download a new set of drivers from the printer manufacturer's website at http://tinyurl.com/9ohb Follow the instructions at the printer manufacturer's website and only connect the printer when the software tells you to do so. If this still has no success, I'd suggest calling Symantec (Norton). It seems something in their software may have 'interfered' with the MP Service (which although I don't have any Canon MultFunction printers, would seem to be to indicate "Multi-Path Service"). Does this show up as a separate service in the Control Panel, Admin Tools, Services? If so, is it set to Auto, Manual or Disabled? Canon Multipass F60 - MPservice
Hello,
The service does show up under services as"MPService" and is set to Auto. Now once i uninstall the printer, and restart, look for the drivers under Printer/Faxes - server Prop. - There are no entries in here. But i will give it a shot and let you all know if this works. Thank You Soo Much Shoddy :-) -----Original Message----- Let's do a complete uninstall and reinstall once mo There are three separate steps and all three must be complete for XP to 'see' the new drivers.
