Default XP & Adobe Acrobat

I have Windows XP Professional operating system.
Whenever I print an Adobe pdf file, I get gibberish. Any
other file type prints fine. I have the free version of
Adobe Acrobat 5.0. How do I fix this problem?

I believe there's an update at the Adobe website (www.adobe.com). If that
doesn't work, uninstall Acrobat Reader, then reinstall and see if that
helps.

Since everything else prints fine, we can at least pinpoint the problem to
one piece of software.
