Hello.

Once in a while, my updated 64-bit W7 HPE SP1's Volume Mixer's Applications'
System Sounds get lowered even if I put it back. Why?
https://image.prntscr.com/image/koiY...pBW8CIqN3w.gif for a screen
capture/shot of it. The only way to fix it is to reboot my old desktop PC.

Thank you in advance.

for me automatically. Took me ages to figure out why it kept
lowering. The problem was that Skype doesn't automatically set
it back to what it was after a call."

Interesting. Lots of answers. I definitely don't have Skype or any oral
communication softwares.

Oh wow, I can click on its "System Sounds" icon to its Sound's Communications tab.
It was set as "Reduce the volume of other sounds by 80%". I tried "Do nothing" and
retested. It didn't change. But what was my communications activity? :/

I don't know how you're supposed to debug this stuff.

If each "control movement" generated a log entry, you
might figure it out that way. But without a log file,
these settings changes could come from just about
any piece of software.

I've found that changing the volume setting in some of my applications
(music player or some games) also changes the master volume setting
for the entire computer. I now use some good quality speakers and just
set volume with the knob for whatever I am doing.

Is rebooting a problem for you? I shut down my PC whenever I leave my
house and when I go to sleep. I might cold reboot several times a day.
I also have to warm reboot whenever I update certain applications (e.g.,
anti-virus, print-to-PDF).

I think it's when an application is listening to the microphone or telephone
input line (if any) of any of your audio adapter.

If you also have a camera, you should be cautious since there are malwares
that snoop people. I'm not trying to scare you, but better be safe than
sorry. Scan you system for any malware if you don't think you have any
(so-so) third party application that can access microphone and/or camera.

I don't have a mic, phone input, and camera. :/ I did scan with MBAM,
SAS, & MRT since I installed 64-bit W7 HPE SP1 in October 2016.

I only turn it off when I am away for a very long time like vacations or
don't need to use it. I do reboot for updates like once a month for sure!

maybe its a webpage script such as java or flash. they access audio
also... you ever setup your voice model in the machine? That will
also do it.

What is a voice model, but then I don't even have a camera and
microphone connected. I know I don't have Java installed. Flash players,
yes but rarely used.
