Default Detection of successsful installation of SP2

Yesterday, using Windows Update, I tought I had installed SP2 on my XP Home
edition (FR version). To-day, I have doubts as
(1) with the "About" option in the Windows Explorer, I only read "Version
5.1 (numéro 2600.xpclient.010817-1148)", no mention of SP1 (already
installed) or SP2,
(2) in IE, version 6.02600.0000.xpclient.010817-1148IS, it says (translated)
: "Number of updates : 0" and in the Tools menu, I don't see any new option
like "Pop-up Blocker".
So, how one can check the SP2 and IE6 status ?
Thanks for all replies...

Hi

Either type

winver

from StartRun, or right click on My Computer and select Properties. Both
methods will provide you with whether SP2/SP1 is installed.

Try to rightclick My Computer and select properties.

If it ain't there, run Windows Update again.

Good luck!

Ok that's a fair answer to the simple question of detection of version.
Thanks. Both ways don't show anything ressembling to SP2, I still only see
what I wrote in (1) in my original message.
But I still don't know why SP2 is not installed and how to actually and
really install it.
I went on the SP2 web site and followed the 3 steps procedure (but step 3
was never accessed or accessible).
-Step 1 : firewall : no action required.
-Step2 ; turn on Automatic update : OK and "Windows Update" is in the Start
menu, set on "every day , at 1 PM" (here in Brussels, Belgium, it's now 2:42
PM).
I noticed yesterday that 17 critical or important updates were applied.
I restarted my PC as Windows requested it.
Is it important that I'm using the "classic mode" of WP ?
My PC was bought in November 2001, a Pentium 4 1.80 Ghz with 256 MB RAM, 80
GB HD, CD bruner, DVDF reader, USB etc.
Thanks again

If you have a high-speed internet connection, go to this website and
download SP2.. it is a very large file, 270mb.. ignore the fact that it says
"for IT Professionals and Developers"..

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Once saved to your hard drive, run it.. installation takes a while so do not
panic..
