Installing Xerox workcenter XK35c

I have been trying to install my Xerox Worcenter XK35c
printer/scanner onto my new computer and I get this
message: "Cannot Install this hardware. An error occurred
during the installation of the device. The parameter is
invalid."
I tried going to the Xerox website and downloading an
updated driver for Windows XP, but that didn't work. I
know my printer is fine because I hook it up to my old
(Windows 98) computer and it works fine. I'd rather can
Windows XP than go but a new printer. I'm very
frustrated; Can anyone help??
