The first problem I noticed was that sometimes when I would connect my Sony Digital Camera the system would just reboot. I would leave the camera connected and let it reboot and then the system would see the it and I would have no problems transferring at this stage. However, if I was to eject the device and connected it later I would have to go through the reboot again. The next problem I noticed was that the system appeared to be out-pacing the video card. This was not during gaming of any sort. An example was opening windows and min/maximizing them. I reinstalled drivers for the card but nothing changed. The system was and is up to date with both vendors and Microsoft updates. Just this week I got myself an Ipod. I installed all the needed software and connected the Ipod. I was once again submitted to the reboots. I actually managed after a reboot to access the Ipod (using Musicmatch :-/ ) Using explorer caused a crash. When I was transferring songs I noticed that the transfer speed was 'up and down'. The speeds never seemed anywhere near firewire speeds and just watching the transfer I could see the speeding up and slow downs. At times it was taking seconds to transfer a Single song. I rebooted and went into the Bios. There I saw that the Videocard, Firewire card, USB posts were all using the same IRQ. According to the Bios only 3 were being used, 3, 10, 11. I cannot eject the Ipod using the ipod-manager or Explorer. I reserved one of the irq's and managed to change the one the firewire card was using but i am still hit with reboots from the USB connected Camera whether I connect it to the usb 2.0 pci card or the systems usb 1.0 hub. The firewire card just use on of the other 2 that I listed above. The system would then just reboot all the time even after a reboot so I removed the reserved setting I have placed. So to sum up, removable storage, camera (memory stick) and Ipod cause the system to reboot. They are not working as they should be. A lot of item are using the one IRQ and it appears to be a bottle neck giving slow transfer rate via firewire and the graphics problem I noted above. Any help on this would be great. Here is the event log errors I got when I tried to connect the camera: Event Type: Information Event Source: EventLog Event Category: None Event ID: 6009 Date: 09/05/2003 Time: 12:10:35 User: N/A Computer: DESKTOP Description: Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 5.01. 2600 Service Pack 1 Uniprocessor Free.
