Default Firewire Drive Issue

I have a sony VAIO FX250K laptop. I plugged in a 60 gig
Firewire drive into its 1394 port but it wouldnt show up
in My Computer. The Firewire name is SmartDisk and model
is FWFL60. Your insights will be appreciated.

Thanks,
TR

Hi,
Your SmartDisk requires a Bus-powered from a 6-pin FireWire bus or an
external power supply.
Your Sony notebook probably doesn't offer the power on it's FireWire, so
you'll need an external AC Adapter.

Yeah, the Firewire Drive is connected to a power outlet
but still no luck with seeing it in My Computer window.

Thanks!

Right Click My Computer
Choose Manage
Go to "Disk Management"
See if you find your 1394 drive there. It may need to be partitioned and/or
have a drive letter assigned.
