How to have all signatures available in replies in wndows live mail?
It seems the only time you have all of the signatures available is when you
create a new email. When you reply to an existing email only the default signature is available. In windows mail I used the signatures to give "stock" answers to some of the questions asked when replying to emails. Is there any way to have all of the signatures available when replying to an email? If not is there any way to get windows mail to work in Windows 7? Thanks JW |

Thanks JW Use Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/) and use the QuickText add on ( https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/640) for multiple signatures. Either that or buy Outlook. Both are far easier to configure and far easier to back up than Windows Mail or Windows Live Mail. If you want a calendar and a to do list for Thunderbird, get Lightning at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/2313 C |

You can use the "Insert-File as Text" function (I use this for Newsgroup boilerplate replies) which means storing your stock replies as text files. The good thing about that is you store them in a folder in your Documents folder which a) means you can easily back them up, (AFAIK WLM sigs are held in the registry) and b) they are available for other programs to use... |

How to have all signatures available in replies in wndows live mail?
Hi, JW.
Well, first, your version of WLM is at least one build behind. You are using: X-Newsreader: Microsoft Windows Live Mail 14.0.8064.206 The current build is 14.0.8089.0726, which has been available for several months. Go get the current version at http://download.live.com . I use WLM in Win7, as it says in my Sig. I've added the "Insert Signature" button to my Compose window's Toolbar in both Mail and News. In each Compose window, I can click that button and get a drop-down list from which I can choose from about a half-dozen signatures, with both Mail and News Sigs listed. This is available whether I am Replying (like right now) or creating a new email or news post. The only problem I've had with Sigs is when transitioning to a new OE/WM/WLM, or a new WinXP/Vista/Win7. Since they have different ways of handling Sigs, I've usually had to re-create all my Sigs as a part of each transition. And the symptoms before I get done are sometimes bizarre! Like having WLM bomb completely back to the Desktop when I try to edit a Sig. :( I've forgotten all the upgrade travails because It has been several months since the last go-round. Everything is working fine now - until the next upgrade comes along, I suppose. Is there any way to have all of the signatures available when replying to an email? It works for me. What are your specific symptoms? If not is there any way to get windows mail to work in Windows 7? WM in Win7 is not supported by Microsoft. Some users have made it work, but I'm not one of them because I have no interest in making it work. I like WLM better. ;) RC -- R. C. Oh well -- it works and you made me very happy. JW |
