Default Sound difficulties...its a toughie!

In the last few days some of our sound does not work. The
system sounds are not heard, media player has no sound
and neither do PC games or CDs. Pre installed games do
have sound as do DVDs... Anyone know where the problem is
coming form?
Thanks

1. Check Device Manager and look for Exclamation Mark or see
Properties of device
2. Check Event Viewer and see what errors appear.

Reinstalling the driver may help.
