Default memory

Is there a way to make windows use more memory? I have
1gig of RAM but when I look at the amount of memory being
used when the CPU is 100% the system is only using 1/4
or 250 megs of memory.

Windows is using "all' the memory you have even if it is not on =
something you are running. But what you are confusing here is processor =
usage to memory allocation using the process. If something is running, =
while already allocated to RAM (memory). you'll see a processor =
percentage of usage. You should look at the process tab in TaskManager =
and see what is using so much of the processor, and post back. Also, you =
may want to click start/run, and type (no quotes) "msconfig", click "OK" =
and in the System Configuration Utility, look under the startup tab, and =
see what is all check marked; one of those could be a culprit that can =
be related to what you see running in the Task Manager.

Loren; you say you "have" 1GB of RAM. Obviously this means you know that
there is 1GB of memory installed on the mobo...but does your comp AND
Windows agree? (i.e., does it show in the BIOS AND in DevMgr?)

Just wondering.
