Default CPU maxing out at 100% and stays there...

Since installing a new video AGP card, a GeForce2 MX200
with 64MB of memory, I have been experiencing a lock up
of my CPU at 100% (as seen via Windows Task Manager).

The
system grinds to a snails pace as a result.

I was using Windows 2000 PE, thought it might be the OS
or a virus, I upgraded to XP, that didn't work, I tried
formating my HDD and installing from scratch, no joy.
I have the latest video driver from MS, I have the

latest
BIOS from ASUS. I have educated myself of BIOS settings
and tweeked it up as much as possible.
Any suggestions as to what to do would be greatly
appreciated. The following information may be of help:

MB=ASUS CUSL2-C
Chip Set=Intel 815EP
CPU=Intel PIII 866 MHz
AGP=GeForce2 MX200 with 64MB of memory
SDRAM=512MB @ 133MHz
OS=XP
.
The better video driver for your NVIDIA Geforce card is

from the card maker NVIDIA not from Microsoft, so go

there
and download and install their lattest version driver.

Hi Jim,
Thanks for that suggestion. I had the new driver all
along, but was a little reluctant to install it because
XP keeps telling me that it is not certified for XP (?).
This is a newer version than the one XP (update) had
available, which was also from NVidea.
It has been running for over an hour now and so far so
good. Usually it would have crashed by now, so I'm hoping
this does the trick. If the same problem comes up, I'll
update that info to this posting.
Regards,
Daya...

In task manager, under Image Name, "System" and under
user name "SYSTEM". It is using 97-98% of CPU. And, yes
it has crashed again, even with the new NVidea driver.

When you go to task manager what executable is consuming

the cpu time?
