It is time other operating system makers should throw in the
towel and stop wasting people's time with their mickey mouse
operating system. they should all start buying Windows 7 before
Christmas so that the new year would be better for them.

Windows 7 -- or any other operating system -- isn't going to
change anyone's destiny or make next year "better".

AH, but it would make a better year for MS.

They have very loyal sheep, er, I mean, customers.

Pity - win 1.0 was not good
for anything - there are those who would argue win 7 is not much
better!

Windows 7 is a lot better than XP. Hogs resources, though, and it
takes a long time to boot up or shut down compared to Linux.

The most ironic thing is: still no useable apps - only thing it
ships with is a browser.

I wasn't aware that Linutz shipped with a browser!

Not familiar with Linutz - but Linux distributions ship with
browsers, office suite, photo editor and hundreds of other
applications - all included.

Amazing, and you say they STILL can't give copies of it away.

I didn't say that.

Considering that Joe Sixpack is too dumb to install anything, it's not
too surprising that he does not want to install Linux - especially
given all the FUD spread by folks like you. Have a good day.

I always have a good day! But answer me this, based your FUD and
misstatements, Joe Sixpack is to dumb to install anything, and the
operating system of choice only comes with a browser. So how does the
software industry make so much money selling Windows software?

Quite easy - mostly they take it to the shop and have a tech install it
or find a knowledgeable fried.

If that actually were the case then why would they bother with Windows
at all? Face it, you know its more like 99.999% of the time they just
stick the CD in the drive and it installs. You're struggling to make an
excuse for why nobody wants linux.

LOL, your panties were wet about Ubuntu, and now you are having wet
panties about this Mint thing. What happens when they come out with
another name.

Do you have enough panties?

I'll be looking into it more. I have started to check it out in a VM

good for the new user, as it is friendly in a windows-like way. I
however like Ubuntu and the normal Gnome user interface better, as I
rather be as far away from looking/feeling like Winders as possible.
(Unless I'm booted to Win7 that is lol) But then I have been using it
for quite a while now, so my preference is biased I suppose. I find the
Gnome menus easier to navigate, but then I never liked the XPee style
menu all that much anyway. As with XPee, Vista, Win7, I find the Mint
Menu more complicated than it needs to be. I realize that Winders users
used to those type menus will be right at home for the most part and am
happy that they will be comfortable, but what the heck? It is NOT
Winders, so let's learn something new including the interface. Ya know?

What I DO like about Mint is the includes. I see that the install has
more included as far as "restricted" BS making it easier for the new
user. I'm ALL for that. I sure would have had a better first experience
when I first tried Linux, starting with Suse Linux to Ubuntu had that
been the case. Ah well, it's all good now.

In the end I like it ALL from Winders to Linux, something Zealots on
either side can't understand, (stubborn Morons?), (Well, being Zealots
they are biased, Duh?), but that is THEIR problem, something they love
to try and project on to you. Be smart and deny them.

Julia, Linux 10, is much better than Isadora. I use the Gnome version.

IDK how you can stand gnome, I've signed off of it since it started
removing user choice!

Twice as long as Linux and if you take into account how long it takes
for the desktop to become usable, even longer.

You could try it now, mate! Have a squiz at:
http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/05/i...10-10-netbook-
interface-unity-screenshots/
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:canonical-dx-team/une
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install unity

Just took Openbox for a spin. It's bloody quick.

Dell have dropped Ubuntu on their PCs on the net since the Summer. As
they say....

“Ubuntu is safer than Windows,” said Dell in an advice document. “The
vast majority of viruses and
spyware written by hackers are not designed to target and attack Linux.
