Auto disconnect problems
Yes, you're right, I would like to know and am glad that you posted back
with how you were able to fix this. Hope it stays fixed for you and good luck. Not having received any more input here, I went to check out the Registry, and found the following. At both HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1874762396-422881706-2419940657-1006\RemoteAccess\Profil e\chester and HKEY_CURRENT_USER\RemoteAccess\Profile\chester (where 'chester' is the name of my ISP), the keys "EnableAutodisconnect" and "EnableExitdisconnect" both contained the value '0'. I changed them to '1'. (Right click item; chose 'Modify"; type 1). Now the Auto Disconnect dialog comes up *every* time, after *any* last window. I thought you might like to know. I have never checked that latter box. Yet this for me very useful feature seems to have a mind of its own. It only appears about half the time. I searched all over the place to see if I can find some option, preference, or property whereby this feature is controlled, but I cannot find it anywhere. What can I do to make this feature work *every* time I log off? Your help greatly appreciated. Gedeon When I use that feature it seems like it only interacts with the first window of whatever program was used to initiate the online connection: Outlook Express, Internet Explorer etc. Consequent windows opened don't trigger the prompt to stay connected for me either. When I want to use the auto-disconnect window, I go online by opening IE to my home page and then keep track of that window until I'm ready to go offline. I open a second window from that first one using a right click and "Open in New Window." Then use that window to do my general browsing. Not sure if this method is adaptable to your browsing methods or not but may want to give it a try until someone comes along with a more workable solution for you. Sharon F MS MVP [Shell/User] |
