Default Upgrading to XP

My Xp is from Sony and is a full version, can it be put
over her 98se or would I need to format?

She has 256 memory and a 20g harddrive.

Please reply to my e-mail address.

No. You want answers you come back here and get them. This isn't a silver
service restaurant. If you don't want to come back then you can't want an
answer that badly, can you?

It doesn't matter where you got your XP from - Windows has always been one
licence per system. Yours is also OEM which means it's inextricably linked
to your system and cannot be transferred - WHATEVER happens to your system.
The system dies (or you change the motherboard) so does the licence.

So, if your sister wants XP Home she has no choice but to purchase it.

She would need to purchase her own copy of XP. If she has a Win 98 CD and
want to retain her present programs and data, she can make do with the
retail XP Home upgrade, if not the retail full version.

If each of you were to go out to dinner, how many meals
would you expect to pay for....one or two?
