If your computer is like one sold by Dell, then NO.
The Oem disk is geared to that particular computer. "Trevor Markey" wrote in message ... Hi I have recently purchased a computer with xp home ome. If Windows XP Home is an OEM version that was preinstalled
on your computer, it cannot be transferred to another computer. Only "retail versions" are transferable. --=20 Nicholas -------------------------------------------------------------------------= - "Trevor Markey" wrote in message: =20 ... | Hi | I have recently purchased a computer with xp home ome. | I have read that I cannot transfer the XP Home to another=20 | new computer. You have an OEM licence and these are inextrcably linked to the computer they were sold with, you may not transfer it to another system *WHATEVER* happens to the original. If you sell the system you *MUST* include the original licence. Besides, all big OEMs that I know of (Dell, HP/Compaq, PB) BIOS lock their XP installations. This means that it wouldn't even install on another system, not unless the motherboard and BIOS version was absolutely identical. OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer and the licence must be kept with the original equipment. -- Cassandra Card carrying member of the Fresh Start Club 'The Undead Are People Too!'
