Xp does not officially work with Windows 95 on a network, although I was
able to get limited networking capabilities (printing and accessing files)
every now and then (it was intermittent) but I could not tell you how I did
it (actually I did nothing but it would occasionally work anyway).

Hope this helps

Greetings --

On the WinXP PC, create local user account(s), with password(s),
that have the desired access privileges to the desired shares. Log on
to the other PCs using those account(s), and you will be able to
access the designated shares, provided your network is configured
properly.

There's a lot of useful, easy-to-follow information in WinXP's Help
& Support files, and he

Apparently there is a patch file for 95 that you need for it to talk to XP .
I read it in the "how to network " in XP.

What proptocols do you use? Netbeui or TCP/IP? If Netbeui then thats
the problem. You need to install TCP/IP on your Win 95 machine to work
correctly with XP as MS is dropping support for Netbeui.

Open the Network Control Panel, click Add, Protocol and add TCP/IP and
then set an IP address e.g. 192.168. 0.1 and 192.168.0.2 for XP PC and
use 255.255.255.0 for Mask.
