Default Win Xp upgrade prerequisites

When you install Win Xp Pro Upgrade. It checks your
computer for a previous version first. Does the previous
version have to be installed on the harddrive or can you
just put the cd in a second cd drive.

Thanks

Hi,

As long as it is a retail or generic OEM disk, you can just insert it in =
the CD drive for the compliance check. There is no reason it needs to be =
installed. The exception to this rule is the "System Restore" disk often =
included with many store-bought systems, these are in a proprietary =
image format and are not recognizable by the compliance check. They =
would need to be installed first.
