Default Help me with my sound card problem!

SoundBlaster Live 5.1
XP
--------

My sound card used to work.....now I get no sound

I tried to reinstall the drivers from the retail cd with no luck. All
the settings that I can see look fine....the device is selected and
the
volumes/mutes are all ok. I don't see any sign of a conflict and its
enabled.

It's not a hardware problem since when the computer starts, the bios
manages to play a sound clip stating that the computer is booting.

Anyone have any suggesting how to get my sound working?? I'm quite
sure its a driver problem but it doesn't seem to make a difference to
reinstall them. (I tried to uninstall the drivers before reinstalling
them, and I also let XP find the drivers itself...both with no luck).

I have had a similar problem with XP and teh same sound card on a
number of occaisions. I cant tell you exactly what caused it but I
suspect it had something to do with having mute set on one of my
media players when I shut it down. Check Windows media player and
Realplayer if you have it. Finally open up the Creative audio HQ and
run a speaker test. Sorry I cant be more specific but maybe some of
this will help.
