Default Display Problems

I have a 15 month old pc running XP with an AG315E-32 VGA
card. It has recently begun showing a series of parallel
lines over the initial bootup screen and also pinkish
tinges behind the desktop icons and a 1cm pinkish square
behind the cursor. Also, in programs such as Photoshop,
when I use a selection tool that has the the "moving
dashes", I get a whole pile of parallel vertical lines
appearing as well.

I can remove the pink colours by moving the slider back a
couple of places in the Display-Properties-Settings-
Advanced-Troubleshoot window. This states that I am
disabling some hardware acceleration. As expected, this
has no effect on the bootup screen lines, which appear
regardless.

Can anyone tell me what is the likely fault - is my
graphics card failing or is it a driver problem ?
Presumably, it will only get worse.

Thanks
Bevan
