Default Modem too SLOW!

-----Original Message-----
Have a US Robotics 5610B 56K modem. Should be running
faster, but only running in the low 30s. US Robotics

Tech
Assist says the problem is with my XP Prof OS. Anyone

out
there have any meaningful input. Thanks, Jim
.
Concur. Modem or XP not source. Phone line! Had a lot of

trouble with a dial-up. ISP had another number that was
not posted on site and I tried it. But the culprit was
the phone lines and possibly my distance from the server.
One server I had loaded me at 48800 to 52200 most of the
time. Another one I had would not do much more than
32200. I finally went with DSL and the extra cost is
worth it. Actually the difference is about twenty bucks a
month.
