![]() HP Officejet 6110 drivers won't install on Toshiba 5100 I've spent hours on this problems and over an hour with HP techincal support and we can't figure it out. I purchased an HP Officejet 6110 all-in one copier/printer/scanner/fax. I can't get the drivers installed on my computer. I have a toshiba 5100 running XP Home Service Pack 2. 1. with printer off and USB disconnected I insert the HP Installation CD and the Setup.exe program runs. I turn on the printer and connect the USB when prompted. 2. a "Welcome to Found New Hardware wizard" starts. 3. I select the default "Install the software automatically" and hit "Next" button. It searches and I get a window saying "The wizard could not find the software on your computer". I press next and I get a window saying "Cannot install this Hardware. The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software" 4. I go "Back" in the "Found new hardware wizard" and this time select the "Install from a list or specific location" option. I select the "Search for the best driver in these locations" radio button, select the "Include this location in the search" checkbox, and then set the path to the installation disc root directory where all the inf files are. I press next but I get the same errors. 5. I uninstalled all the hp software, disconnected the Printer USB and started over. I copied the entire hp installation cd to a temp file on my hard drive then tried running the intallation program from there and setting the location to driver location to the temp folder. This didn't work. 6. In case my CD-ROM disk was corrupted I downloaded the full installation program from the HP Web site. Uninstalled everything, disconnected the USB cable, cycled the printer on and off and attemted the installation again. This did not work either. 7. with HP technical support we uninstalled all the software again, and made sure HP registry items were clear and tried everything again but got the same errors. We tried many things and cycled throught the installation procedure several times but always got the same error. They thought it might be a service pack 2 problem. 8. I don't think it is a service pack 2 problem because I have Drive Image and I installed a pre-sp2 version of my system, repeated everything above with the same problems. 9. I asked if I could manually install the drivers but HP said not really because its complicated for an all-in-one. 10. If I select the "Don't seach. I will choose the driver to install" and set it to the hpoprn08.inf file the print function installs and I can print from my computer, however I can't do inything else and the status of the printer under the HP Director software is that the printer is disconnected - the cable, USB ports ect are ok. 11. From the control panel/scanner and camera's I tried finding an inf file that might install but I recieved an error for all saying there was no inf file for the selected device. So I really need the Hardware installation wizard to work correctly. I'd doesn't seem to recognize the driver software and I can't get them installed. I'd appreciate any help or what I should do. thanks rj |

Ok - you have an administrator account - but did you install the drivers
while logged into the administrator account? -- "SpongeBob SquarePants" "Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?" Small Note: If you want to learn how to fix/do something, I'll point you to it, but if you want me to do your work for you, it will cost you $50 USD per hour - your choice. "RJ" wrote in message ...
