F8.1 update: How to use/recover your original "local account"
Hi All,
Not able to logon with your local account after install F8.1 (Frankenstein 8.1 or Windows 8.1)? I googled and didn't find anything helpful, so I wrote up my own note and thought would share it in case it helps someone else. Maybe it will get into Google. -T Frankenstein (Windows 8.x) F8.0 -- F8.1 upgrade: How to use/recover your original "local account": Problem: after installing F8.1, you are prompted for a web account, and, if you don't have one, to create one. There is no sign of your previous "Local" account Solution: 1) click "Create New Account" (you are not, don't worry). 2) when you get to the new account dialog form (don't fill it out), in small print, below the form, click on the link: "use existing account" 3) after finishing F8.1's house keeping and logging back in, do a real reboot ctrlr shutdown /r /t 00 and verify that the login prompt is for your "local account" |
