MMC asks about 32- or 64-bit version
Whenever I start MMC, it pops up a window asking if I want to run the 32-
or 64-bit version. It shows two lists of Snap-ins and reports that 12 of the 19 Snap-ins are available. (Where are the other seven?) The lists are not quite identical; the 32-bit lists one Snap-in as "unknown" and the 32-bit list does not include "Service Dependencies" as the 64-bit list does. It's behaved this way since the machine was new. Why? |

It's behaved this way since the machine was new. Why? https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...(v=vs.85).aspx "MMC (64) examines all snap-ins and extensions that are defined in the console file and checks the registry to determine if they are available as 32-bit, 64-bit, or both versions. If equal number of snap-ins can be loaded with both, the user is prompted to make a decision." Apparently mmc takes a /32 command line option, but I would guess it would be a lot of work to sprinkle that all over the place. And there was a conversation back in 2012 about it. But no magic Regedit setting to have it prefer one choice over the other. http://www.w7forums.com/threads/mmc-...tart-it.14178/ Paul |
